FOLA Opens Up About Emotional Debut Album Catharsis, Promises Healing Through Music

Fast-rising Nigerian singer FOLA has offered new insight into his much-anticipated debut album, Catharsis, revealing just how personal and transformative the project has been for him.
In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, August 1, 2024, FOLA posted a striking image explaining the meaning behind the album’s title and reflected on the emotional journey that shaped the music.
According to the artist, Catharsis has been in the works for over a year, crafted as both a creative expression and a deeply personal form of therapy. “It was my way to mend what life tried to break, to let go of what I couldn’t hold onto, and most of all, to heal,” he wrote.
FOLA described the album as a space for release—one born from vulnerability, pain, and ultimately, growth. He expressed hope that listeners would experience the same sense of healing he found while making it, confidently calling it “the album you didn’t know you needed.”
Ending the post with the hashtag #catharsisOTW, FOLA signaled that the album’s release is close, building excitement among fans eager to hear the emotionally-charged body of work.
With Catharsis, FOLA appears set to introduce himself not just as a singer, but as an artist unafraid to channel raw emotion into powerful music.
My debut album “catharsis” is almost here. I’ve been writing these songs for over a year now, long before most of you even knew FOLA. I wrote these songs to mend what life tried to break, to let go of what I couldn’t hold onto, and most of all, to heal.
