Phil Foden reveals motivational message pinned up in Man City dressing room as Pep Guardiola’s side push for fourth-straight Premier League title
Phil Foden has shared that Manchester City draws motivation from a sign displayed at their training ground, bearing the words “Nobody has won four Premier Leagues in a row… yet.”
Despite City’s remarkable achievements in recent seasons, including winning the treble last year, they are aiming for unprecedented success this term. However, their journey towards another treble was halted by Real Madrid’s elimination in the Champions League.
While City leads the Premier League, they find themselves amidst a tight title race with Arsenal and Liverpool, both trailing by just two points. The Gunners and the Reds are currently second and third in the standings, with 71 points each. This intense competition fuels City’s determination as they strive to secure their fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Foden told the Daily Mail: “We know if we win the Premier League this time we will have done something new. It’s something we have our eyes on. Every time we put our boots on at the training ground that saying is there on the wall. It says: ‘Nobody has won four Premier Leagues in a row…yet.’ We want to put ourselves in history. Every day I sit and look at that slogan and I think: ‘Why not?'”
Manchester City faces a crucial FA Cup semi-final showdown against Chelsea on Saturday, a match of significant importance as they vie for a spot in the final. Following this high-stakes encounter, City will swiftly shift their focus back to Premier League action, where they are set to take on Brighton on Thursday. With both fixtures carrying immense weight, City aims to maintain their momentum in pursuit of domestic success across multiple competitions.
