Focalistic gets dragged as Nigerians credit Davido for making Amapiano global
South African artist Focalistic faces heavy criticism from the majority of social media users as Nigerians attribute global recognition of the Amapiano genre to Davido.
While Amapiano is undeniably a South African genre, artists like DJ Maphorisa, Uncle Waffles, Kabza De Small, and Focalisitc have been actively working to popularize the sound worldwide.
However, Twitter erupted with controversy when it was suggested that the global spread of the genre was catalyzed by Davido’s involvement in the remix of the hit track “Ke Star.”
“Davido is the one who made Amapiano go worldwide after the Remix with Focalistic Ke Star South Africa need to be grateful to him because he made Amapiano go international,” a Nigerian tweep wrote.
Let me set the facts straight. Davido heard Ke Star from Alicia Keys… I asked @TebogoMalope to send it to Swizz Beats & he did. Swizz Beats then asked his wife to use it as the background music in her instagram video, David then heard the song & begged Focalistic for a remix!✊🏿

I still can’t believe Focalistic removed Vigro deep from “Ke Star remix” and featured Davido, look at how that country is obsessed with our genre now 💔

Also, After his Timeless North America tour, which featured a remarkable performance at the Capital One Arena with a capacity of 20,000, reports about Davido’s earnings have surfaced.
On July 1, 2023, multi-award-winning musician Davido’s Timeless concert at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, US, stole the show.
The legendary arena served as the launch pad for Davido’s North American tour, and Touring Data, a well-known company, has made assumptions about how much money the artist earned from the sold-out, 20,000-person venue.
