Pheenix has just released a new album, Flesh & Fire, a powerful, diary-like project that blends Afro-fusion and R&B with raw, honest storytelling.
Nigerian-born, UK-based artist PHEENIX released his bold and emotional album Flesh & Fire, a project that feels more like a life story than just music. With 18 tracks, the album opens with the lead single “Flesh & Fire” and closes with the reflective final song “We Were the Lucky Ones.”

This album blends Afro-fusion and R&B, with touches of soul, hip-hop, Afrobeats, and pop. But more importantly, it blends emotions.
Every song feels honest, raw, and personal. PHEENIX uses this album to talk about who he is, what he has been through, and how pain helped shape him into a stronger person.
The Meaning Behind “Flesh & Fire”
The title Flesh & Fire has a deep meaning. “Flesh” represents being human, feeling pain, love, fear, and weakness. “Fire” represents strength, faith, growth, and transformation. Together, they explain the idea that hard moments can help someone grow instead of breaking them.
Throughout the album, PHEENIX talks about love, heartbreak, mental struggles, ambition, faith, grief, and identity. These are things many people, especially young people, go through, which makes the album easy to connect with. It’s not about pretending life is perfect. It’s about being real.
In the opening track, he sets the tone by showing how pain and passion live side by side, reminding listeners that growth often comes from difficult moments.
18 Tracks, One Clear Story
With 18 songs, Flesh & Fire takes listeners on a long emotional journey. The album begins with energy and self-realisation and slowly moves toward reflection and acceptance. By the time you reach the last track, “We Were the Lucky Ones,” it feels like the end of a chapter, a moment of looking back and understanding everything that happened along the way.
Many of the songs feel like conversations with himself. Some tracks sound confident and bold, while others feel quiet and thoughtful. This balance shows the dual nature of being human, strong one moment, vulnerable the next.

Get Familiar with Pheenix
PHEENIX, whose real name is Emmanuel Olih, started writing music in secondary school. Over time, he turned his personal battles into songs that connect with others. His name comes from the mythical phoenix, a bird that rises stronger after being burned. This symbol perfectly matches his music and message.
He has performed at festivals, been featured on BBC Music Introducing, and even opened for Lil Kesh in Derby in 2025. Beyond music, he also supports other artists by hosting a weekly open mic night called Love Your Sound, creating a safe space for creativity and expression.
PHEENIX draws inspiration from several well-known artists, and you can hear it clearly in his sound. Influences like Post Malone and Juice WRLD show in his emotional honesty. The Weeknd and Akon appear in his smooth melodies.
Nigerian artists like Fireboy DML, P-Square, and Lil Kesh influence his Afro-Fusion style, while Joyner Lucas inspires his storytelling and lyric focus.
Even with all these influences, PHEENIX still sounds original. He doesn’t copy anyone; he blends different sounds to create his own voice.
For young listeners especially, this album sends an important message: it’s okay to feel, it’s okay to fall, and it’s okay to rise again.
