Flavour recently reflected on the early days of his career in an interview on the “In My Opinion Podcast,” sharing how he began charging ₦5,000 per beat before gaining fame.

Flavour reminisced about his initial work with rapper Nigga Raw (now Mr. Raw), for whom he played the piano in the studio. Determined to pursue music seriously, Flavour approached Nigga Raw’s producer for lessons and was charged ₦1,000 weekly for training.

He continued to learn music production until he was skilled enough to produce his own tracks, eventually charging ₦5,000 per beat.

“From learning studio production to becoming a producer, I started doing jobs and charged ₦5,000 per beat,” Flavour recounted.

He also shared how he began accompanying Nigga Raw, one of the most prominent artists in Eastern Nigeria at the time, to shows. This experience led to Flavour recording a chorus for a Nigga Raw song that gained significant traction in the East, marking his first taste of success.

Flavour credited Nigga Raw with teaching him what it truly means to be an artist. He noted, “Nigga Raw was the guy that opened my eyes to what being an artist is about.”

During the interview, Flavour discussed his decision to focus on highlife fusion rather than RnB, explaining that he found RnB to be less profitable. He also talked about receiving a pivotal call from renowned music marketer Obaino Music, which led him to move from Enugu to Lagos in pursuit of fame.
