Flavour speaks on the struggles of being impersonated by online scammers
Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer Chinedu Izuchukwu Okoli, widely known as Flavour N’abania or simply Flavour, recently opened up about the challenges of being exploited by scammers.
In an appearance on the podcast *Uncut*, Flavour discussed how fraudsters have used his image to deceive unsuspecting online users, particularly elderly women seeking companionship.
The award-winning musician recounted an incident where he was impersonated by a scammer, leading to his appearance on an American TV show. Flavour was featured in an episode of MTV’s “Catfish” after an American woman named Kimberly was duped into believing she was in a relationship with him.
During the podcast, Flavour shared several instances where victims had fallen for the impersonation scam, including a white woman with disabilities whom he encountered at an event.
He explained how he had to provide his contact information to her to clarify that she had been scammed, and to clear his name.

Taking to his X account on Monday, February 19, 2024, the musician alerted his followers to the presence of imposters attempting to solicit money under false pretenses.
Flavour made it unequivocally clear that he would never resort to begging for money from his fans. He emphasized that scammers have been impersonating him online, aiming to deceive and defraud individuals. Urging vigilance among his followers, the singer urged anyone who encounters such fraudulent accounts to report them to the appropriate authorities promptly.
