Fireboy DML’s ‘Peru’ gets diamond certification in France
Fireboy DML’s hit single “Peru” has become the latest Afrobeats track to achieve diamond certification. Released in 2021, “Peru” enjoyed significant commercial success, charting in several countries, including the US, UK, and France.
The remix featuring British superstar Ed Sheeran helped the song soar globally, where it charted in over 20 countries.
It peaked at No. 53 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 2 on the UK Official Singles Chart, and reached No. 28 in France. “Peru” has earned the highest certification for a song in France, cementing its success.
With over 450 million Spotify streams across both versions, “Peru” has also received a gold plaque in Denmark, gone 2x platinum in the UK, and earned an RIAA platinum plaque in the US.

This hit single, part of Fireboy’s third album “Playboy,” played a pivotal role in his international rise, earning him a BET nomination and a performance at the 2022 edition.
With its diamond certification in France, “Peru” joins a select group of Nigerian songs that have achieved SNEP diamond certification, including Oxlade’s “Kulosa,” Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” Burna Boy’s “On The Low,” and Rema’s “Calm Down.”
Fireboy’s global rise continues with the release of his fourth album, “Adedamola,” which features guest appearances from Lagbaja, Grammy nominee Seun Kuti, Lojay, and Grammy Album of the Year winner Jon Batiste.
