Fireboy DML weighs in on Wizkid’s recent jabs at Davido
Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer Adedamola Adefolahan, known by his stage name Fireboy DML, has shared his perspective on music industry feuds, particularly in light of the ongoing tensions between Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Davido.
As a key artist under the YBNL/EMPIRE label, Fireboy DML, who just dropped his 14-track fourth studio album titled ‘Adedamola,’ spoke on CITY FM during his promotional tour for the project.
His album features prominent artists such as Nigerian Afrobeat legend Lagbaja, Grammy-winning American soul artist Jon Batiste, Afrobeat veteran Seun Kuti, rising star Lojay, and celebrated DJ Spinall.
When asked about public disputes involving artists like Wizkid, Davido, and even international figures like Kendrick Lamar and Drake, Fireboy offered a balanced take.
He suggested that everyone in the industry should focus on their respective roles, stating, “Artists should remain artists, fans should remain fans, and the media should continue to tell the stories.”
He acknowledged that feuds are a natural part of the industry due to human emotions but emphasized that his priority is to stay focused on his music and avoid unnecessary distractions.
In addition to his views on industry conflicts, Fireboy revealed his ambition to launch a record label in the future, aiming to support emerging talents like Ayo Maff.
