Fireboy DML secures new Billboard award
Nigerian singer, Fireboy DML has secured a new Billboard honourary award for his achievements for the month of March.
After a successful career, Fireboy DML was named Billboard R&B / Hip Hop Rookie Of The Month for the month of March 2022.
In an interview with Billboard, Fireboy stated;
“It’s surreal, honestly, watching myself grow into making a song with my inspiration. It was the moment I realized, ‘Yo, you’re actually doing something great, I consider him like the greatest Afrobeats artist, to me. He brought something that was missing in Afrobeats for a while. He brought soul. And for that, I will always give him that respect.”

This news comes a few days after the singer’s tune, Peru was certified gold in the UK.
Since its release, the Afro-fusion song, which features British Grammy-winning singer Ed Sheeran, has been hitting milestones and topping charts, with the most recent being a significant success in the United Kingdom.
According to chart data, Peru remix claimed gold certification in the United Kingdom, indicating that the song has sold over 400,000 units.
