Fido shares details of what allegedly transpired with his former management

Afrobeats singer Fido has opened up about a bitter rift with his former record label and management, accusing them of pocketing most of his advance payment and slowing down his career momentum.
Speaking in a recent radio interview, Fido claimed that out of a $20,000 advance, he received barely ₦1.5 million (a little over $1,000), alleging that the team withheld as much as 95% of the funds.
“I was transparent with them even when I was still with them, but they took all my advance from me… they gave me just ₦1.5 million out of $20,000,” he said, stressing that he has proof to substantiate his allegations.
The interviewer suggested legal action as a possible route, noting that Fido’s contract with the label had already been dissolved.
They also advised that his current partners at Empire, alongside industry figures such as MK, could step in to help restart stalled projects and get his career back on track.
Fido admitted that the dispute had a significant impact on his professional growth, even as fans questioned his reduced presence in the music scene.
“People never knew what I was facing. They just thought, ‘Ah, this boy, this…’ But they never knew the battles behind the scenes,” he revealed.
“They said they were going to give me 85k advance for the EP.”
