Bruno Fernandes explains why he doesn’t compliment Alejandro Garnacho.
Bruno Fernandes said that he avoids heaping praise on Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho in order to keep him grounded.
On Saturday, Alejandro Garnacho played for Manchester United for the first time in two months, and he scored a last-second goal to secure a 2-0 victory over Wolves. The club’s temporary captain Bruno Fernandes assisted the Argentine’s goal.
The senior player from Portugal is one of several that Garnacho admires, and the midfielder said he does not want to laud the kid too much since he can get complacent if done too frequently.
Speaking to reporters, Fernandes said, “What I have to say to Garna, I say to him at the training ground, whenever we’re eating, wherever. If he wants to hear, he hears. If not, he doesn’t, but I try to help. I think he did an interview talking about me trying to help him a lot of times, and that’s what I’m trying to do.
“Obviously, he’s still young, and I don’t want to give too many compliments, because, you know, when you’re young and you get too many compliments, you can get a little bit relaxed and everything. But I think if he wasn’t doing what he needed to do, he wouldn’t be playing.”
Red Devils boss Erik Ten Hag also praised the youngster while outlining the way he could become a regular starter at Manchester United. The player has to improve his decision-making on the pitch, according to the Dutch boss. This season, the adolescent has six goals in all competitions for the team.
The next match for Ten Hag’s team will take place on Saturday when Manchester United plays Bournemouth in the Premier League.
