Femi Kuti debunks reports of him labelling Peter Obi’s Supporters as Zombies
Veteran Nigerian musician, Femi Kuti has addressed a People’s Gazzette article that claimed he referred to the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi’s supporters as “zombies.”
According to certain media sources, Peter Obi followers were referred to as “zombies” by the 60-year-old first son of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti during his performance on Thursday at the Afrika Shrine.
“You know what obedience means? Stand up, sit down, sit there — zombie.
“How can you be Obidient in this chaos? I am not Obidient. Tell me, at 60, why am I Obidient?
“You said I should be Obidient, sit down, and be peaceful. Are you all okay in this country?” the reports claimed he said.
In a tweet shared via his Twitter page on Friday, August 12, 2022, the singer debunked the reports, insisting that he only said he is too angry to be called an ‘obidient’ – an alias given to supporters of the presidential hopeful.
Femi quoted the report on Twitter and slammed them for taking his words out of context.

According to him, he is too angry at his age to be obedient.
He, however, mentioned that if Obi wins the election and become an instrument of change, then it’s for the best of everyone.
“You are such liars. Of what benefit is it to the people when you take my words out of context like this? I said I’m too angry at my age to be obedient. Expressing I do not like the ‘term’ But if Peter Obi wins and actually changes the country better for all of us,” he tweeted.

Watch the video of Femi Kuti talking about the concept of “Obidient” during his show;
You were obviously talking about Peter Obi sir, you referenced his position as Atiku’s Ex running mate when you said “Obidient that was VP to Atiku”. Unless there is a other meaning for context or maybe another Obi. https://t.co/50GEzxB3sl pic.twitter.com/7RV8pgSQAV
