Fast-rising Nigerian singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has stirred conversations online after questioning why promoters are discouraging her from holding a birthday concert in Nigeria because of Ramadan.

The singer had planned to stage her first-ever headline show in Nigeria on her birthday, Friday, March 13, 2026. However, the plans appear to have hit a snag following concerns raised by promoters over the timing of the event.
According to reports, Ramadan in 2026 is expected to run from Wednesday, February 18, to Thursday, March 19, overlapping with Fave’s proposed concert date. This, she revealed, is the reason promoters have repeatedly advised against going ahead with the show.
Taking to social media to express her surprise, Fave shared her confusion over the situation, noting that she had never encountered such restrictions before.
“So I was trying to do a show in Nigeria on my birthday this year, but they’re telling me shows aren’t allowed during Ramadan? I’m a little confused,” she tweeted.
In a follow-up post, the singer, who identifies as a Christian and grew up in southern Nigeria, explained that she only became familiar with Ramadan practices later in life. While stressing that she respects all faiths, Fave maintained that she still hopes to celebrate her birthday with a live performance.
“I started this year wanting to do my first show in Nigeria on my birthday as an independent artiste, and back-to-back, promoters kept sending word to my team saying the same thing.
I grew up in the south and never heard of Ramadan practices till I was in my late teens. I respect all religions. But I’m Christian, and I really want to do this on my birthday, so if you’re reading this and are open to organising, I’d be so happy.”
Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans supporting her desire to perform on her birthday, while others highlighted the sensitivity around scheduling entertainment events during the holy month.
For now, it remains to be seen whether Fave will find a promoter willing to take on the show or if she will be forced to reconsider the date of what would be a major milestone in her career.
