The popular Music Award show, Headies recently opened its platform for 2020 nominees and conversations are always buzzing online.
One most talked about part of the Award show is the “Next Rated” category that always seen to be a bone of contention for music fans.
Don’t forget this category caused a fight between Music Industry giants, Olamide and Don Jazzy when the former’s artist, Lil Kesh lost the category to the latter’s artist, Reekado Banks.
The category has also come close at predicting the industry’s next big things like Davido, Wizkid, Wande Coal, Patoranking, Mr Eazi, Mayorkun, and Rema who was its last winner.
Now the 2020 edition is set to take place, here are the top 5 people we believe should be in that category;

Omah Lay
Omah lay is not just your regular singer, he is like that addictive snack you you always want to munch on.
Omah lay got people’s attention with “You” earlier this year and later dropped the “Get layd” EP that clinched him a spot as the poster boy for Apple Music’s Africa Rising.
The young music star has this bewitching voice that makes every lyric he spits out sound like an enchantment.
His usage of Port-Harcourt and his subtle way of singing about sex is a likable trait.
Bella Shmurda
In 2019, Bella SHmurda dropped “Vision 2020”, but the song started gaining traction in 2020 itself. Then he released the “High Tension” EP which was successful.
Then he went to release two bangers, “Cashapp” and “Dangbana Orisa”. His feature on Olamide’s “Trumiphant” also gained him good reviews.
The singer has a unique style of singing that has earned him fans and he is slowly taking over the street scene from Naira Marley and Zlatan.

Oxlade
Oxlade has been in the industry for a while but didn’t get the attention he deserves until he featured on Blaqbonez’s “Mamiwota”.
He dropped his EP, “Oxygene” this year and since then, he has become one of Music Lovers’ favorite when it comes to New school artists.
His lead single, “Away” even found its way to American Rapper, Drake’s playlist.
Tems
Tems is a special breed in her own right. After getting people hooked to her “Try Me” hit song, she went further with the EP, “For Broken Ears”.
The alte singer carries a certain type of power in her voice that makes you want to listen to more. Maybe this was why she clinched a spot on Wizkid recently released “Made In Lagos”.

Zinoleesky
Zinoleesky is to Marlian Music the same way Mayorkun is to DMW label. The promising star sings mostly in Yoruba but his vocals make it sweet to listen to even to a non-Yoruba speaker.
The singer has dropped two hit songs, “Caro” and “Mapariwo” this year.
Bad Boy Timz
Smooth singing fast-rising star, Bad Boy Timz is another artist 2020 blessed us with. Though he has been singing for a while, his break came in form of the vibes filled “MJ” song.
The song which is mostly sung in Yoruba makes one want to pull off some Micheal Jackson’s moves while listening to it.
He was also featured on Olamide’s “Loading” off his Carpe Diem album. Bad Boy Timz proved how easily he could get one dancing just to a hook.
