According to reports, Everton are set to sack Frank Lampard as their manager after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham.

The Toffees lost for the ninth time in their last 12 games, falling to the bottom of the Premier League standings thanks to two goals from Jarrod Bowen.

Despite having 68% of the ball against a struggling West Ham team, Lampard’s team once again failed to create clear-cut chances, which proved to be their undoing in the capital.

“I can’t comment. It’s not my decision,” was the strange response from Everton owner Farhad Moshiri in the aftermath of the game, when asked whether or not Lampard would continue as the club’s manager.

But we understand that the club are ready to end Lampard’s reign after less than a year in charge.

Among the candidates for the position are Sean Dyche, Wayne Rooney, Duncan Ferguson, Nuno Espirito Santo, and former Valencia manager Marcelino.

However, it’s thought that the Toffees, who are attempting to extend their 69-year stay in England’s top division, are still considering all of their options.

After parting ways with Burnley in April of last year, Dyche has been out of the game for nine months, while Rooney is currently managing D.C. United in the MLS, a team he played for briefly.

Ferguson, on the other hand, served as the first team coach at Everton for a number of seasons and even acted as interim manager after Marco Silva and Rafa Benitez were fired.

Before to Lampard’s arrival at Goodison Park, Nuno, the former manager of Wolves and Tottenham, was mentioned as a prospective hire. Despite currently working for the Saudi Arabian team Al-Ittihad, Nuno is once again being considered.

The 48-year-old led Wolves to back-to-back seventh-place finishes in the Premier League after winning promotion in 2018 and even led the club to a Europa League quarter-final appearance in 2020.

Marcelino most recently managed Athletic Club for 18 months and has also been in charge of Sevilla and Villarreal.
