Europa League draw: Man Utd & Juventus discover quarter-final opponents
The Europa League’s unpredictable nature was on full display on Thursday night as the continent’s secondary club competition nears its final stretch.
Sporting CP defeated Arsenal on penalties at the Emirates Stadium after the tie ended 3-3 on aggregate due to the Premier League leaders’ inability to defeat them.
This has made it possible for Italian teams Juventus and Roma as well as Manchester United, who last won the Europa League in 2017.
On Friday afternoon, the drawing was held. These ties will soon be played.
Here are the upcoming ties.
Confirmed Europa League quarter final and semi final draws
Manchester United were the first team drawn and have been given another trip to Spain, this time in the form of La Liga strugglers Sevilla. Los Nervionenses have won the Europa League a record six times.
Juventus will have to see off Portuguese side Sporting CP if they want to reach the semi finals, while tournament debutants Union Saint-Gilloise will face Bayer Leverkusen.
There will also be a replay of last season’s Europa Conference League final when Roma take on Feyenoord.
