Erik ten Hag confirms Man Utd’s plans for Antony reintegration.
Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has officially announced the potential return of Antony to competitive action in the upcoming match against Galatasaray on Tuesday.
After a disappointing defeat to Bayern Munich in their first Champions League match, the Red Devils are eager to make a comeback at Old Trafford.
This game marks their first home Champions League fixture since their 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the 2021/22 season’s last 16 tie.
In preparation for Tuesday’s match, Antony has rejoined first-team training. During September, he took a break from the club due to allegations of assault from three women. The club confirmed on Friday that the winger would resume first-team activities.
However, he was not included in the matchday squad for United’s 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday, despite being spotted at Old Trafford.
During his pre-match press conference on Monday, Ten Hag outlined his intentions to reintegrate Antony into the team for the upcoming fixture.
“Antony will be in consideration,” he said. “Yesterday was his first time in team training. We have a final training [session] and then we’ll make a decision. But he will be in consideration, yeah.
“”I think the team news is probably [just that] Antony dos Santos can return.”
When asked if Antony’s return might send a negative message to domestic violence victims, Ten Hag responded, “He cooperated fully, it came out he’s not charged.”
Both the Sao Paulo Police and the Greater Manchester Police have the option of charging Antony. Last Monday, he agreed to meet with the former so he could provide information for their ongoing inquiries.
