Erik ten Hag provides an update on Bruno Fernandes ahead of the Tottenham match.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says he will make a late decision on Bruno Fernandes‘ fitness before his team’s match against Tottenham.
After injuring his ankle, the Portugal international was substituted during Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final triumph against Brighton.
Fernandes removed his boot during the extra time on the sidelines and was photographed wearing a protective boot at his house on Monday.
Since joining United more than three years ago, the midfielder has not missed a single game due to injury, although there have been suggestions that he may miss Thursday’s encounter in north London.
However, ten Hag says the boot was simply a protective measure and the club will assess Fernandes over the next 24 hours.
‘There are some unavailable – Martinez, Varane,’ said Ten Hag.
‘We have to see how Bruno Fernandes is, we don’t know yet. Is a question mark. But I think for the rest, we are quite okay.
‘It’s more often that players, we protect them, prevention but it [Fernandes injury] has to settle down.
‘We have seen he played a full game and it happened in thefirst half. But tomorrow is quick, we have to see what is possible.’
