“Yahoo Boys Don Kill Romance” — Erigga Laments the Death of Genuine Love.

Nigerian rapper Erigga has never been one to shy away from speaking his mind, and this time, he’s turning his lens on love, money, and the modern dating scene.
During a recent chat on Yanga FM Lagos, the outspoken Warri-born rapper lamented what he calls the “death of true romance,” blaming it largely on the lifestyle influence of internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys.
According to Erigga, the extravagant display of wealth by these young men has warped the idea of love for many, turning relationships into transactions rather than emotional connections.
“Yahoo boys don kill romance,” Erigga said frankly. “When last did you see two lovers holding hands in the street? It’s been a long time. We’re raising weak men who think their worth is only measured by how much they have.”
Reflecting on the past, the Motivation crooner painted a nostalgic picture of simpler times when affection didn’t come with a price tag.
“Back then, women appreciated little things,” he recalled. “There was a time when meat pie and Fanta date was enough to make a woman happy. Now, everything is about money, and men helped create that problem by trying too hard to impress.”
Erigga went on to stress that relationships built solely on wealth rarely last, urging both men and women to return to the basics of genuine connection love, laughter, and mutual respect.
“Love no be by money alone,” he concluded. “Emotional intelligence and true communication are what really keep people connected.”
As always, Erigga’s words cut through the noise a reminder that in a world obsessed with luxury and likes, true love might just be the one thing money can’t buy.
