Ederson makes Man City history! Goalkeeper breaks clean sheet record in narrow win against Bournemouth
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson made club history by securing a clean sheet against Bournemouth.
In the Premier League match on Saturday at Vitality Stadium, Manchester City clinched victory thanks to Phil Foden’s 24th-minute goal. Notably, goalkeeper Ederson surpassed Joe Hart’s previous record for the most clean sheets in the league for the club. Ederson achieved his 110th clean sheet in the Premier League, eclipsing Hart’s tally of 109.
Ederson reached this milestone in 242 league appearances, whereas Hart played in 266 matches. This accomplishment places the former Benfica goalkeeper 15th on the list of all-time highest clean sheets by a goalkeeper in the English top flight, with Petr Cech leading with 202 clean sheets.
Since joining Manchester City from Benfica in 2017, the 30-year-old has established himself as one of the club’s premier goalkeepers, contributing to multiple trophy wins over the past seven years. Ederson claimed the Premier League Golden Glove award for the first time in the 2019/20 season and replicated this achievement in the following two campaigns.
Pep Guardiola’s team will now turn their attention to the FA Cup, where they face Luton Town on Tuesday in a fifth-round encounter, before a league match against rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
