Drake announces break from music over health challenge
Popular Canadian singer and songwriter, Drake announced that he will not release any new music for a year following the release of his latest album For All the Dogs due to health concerns.
For All the Dogs, Drake’s most recent album, will be the Grammy-winning musician’s last release of the calendar year. On October 6th, the Canadian rapper made this announcement during an on-air interview with Table for One on SiriusXM. Drake admitted that his decision was impacted by the fact that he has been dealing with gastrointestinal issues for a while.
“I probably won’t make music for a little bit. I need to focus on my health first and foremost. I have been having the craziest problem with my stomach for years. I am going to lock the door on the studios for a little bit. Maybe a year”, the singer said.
His music break was announced after the release of his new eighth studio album, For All The Dogs, which reached the market on October 6. There are 23 songs on the album, and renowned musicians including 21 Savage, Sexy Red, Yeat, SZA, Bad Bunny, and even his own son Adonis, who gives a rap verse on the song Daylight, are all featured. Adonis also created the drawing that served as the album’s cover.
The Grammy-winning musician later shared a radio clip of his statement along with the comment “See ya when I see ya” on his Instagram. Drake recently received a Grammy for Wait for U by Future, which included Drake and Tems, for Best Melodic Rap Performance in 2022. According to Charts Africa, For All the Dogs is presently the top song in 86 nations and is charting in 144 nations.
