Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Jørgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a dramatic late move, announcing the deal just minutes before the January transfer window slammed shut.
The Norway international joins the Eagles in a club-record transfer worth around £50 million, bringing an end to his one-and-a-half-year stay at Molineux. The 25-year-old striker has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Oliver Glasner’s side and will wear the No. 22 shirt at Selhurst Park.
Confirming the signing, Palace chairman Steve Parish expressed his delight at landing the Norwegian forward. “We’re delighted that Jørgen has chosen to continue his impressive journey with us and look forward to seeing him in action at Selhurst Park. I’m sure he will prove himself a valuable asset for years to come,” Parish told the club’s media.

Strand Larsen also shared his excitement after completing the move, making it clear he is eager to hit the ground running in South London. “I’m really excited to come to Crystal Palace. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now. I’m here to bring energy and goals and to try to do my best for the club,” he said.
The striker arrives at Palace with mixed recent fortunes. He enjoyed an impressive debut season at Wolves, scoring 16 goals in 35 appearances, but has struggled for form in the current campaign, managing just one Premier League goal so far. Wolves have endured a difficult season overall, with Rob Edwards’ side rooted to the bottom of the table, seven points behind Burnley and facing the prospect of relegation to the Championship.

Strand Larsen was initially expected to replace Jean-Philippe Mateta, but the French forward’s proposed deadline-day move to AC Milan collapsed. The Italian giants reportedly pulled out of the deal after concerns were raised over a knee issue during medical checks. As a result, Mateta now looks set to remain at Palace and be reintegrated into the squad.
Explaining Mateta’s absence from the squad against Nottingham Forest, Palace manager Oliver Glasner insisted the decision was not transfer-related. “It’s nothing to do with the transfers, he is just not in the right place and doesn’t feel in the right place to play. We have to protect the team and protect him, he will not travel with us to Nottingham,” Glasner told reporters.
With Strand Larsen now through the door and Mateta staying put, Crystal Palace head into the second half of the season with renewed attacking options as they look to push forward under Glasner’s leadership.
We are delighted to announce the signing of Jørgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a club-record deal ❤️💙
