Don Jazzy, the CEO of Mavin Records, lauded Afrobeats singer Burna Boy as a phenomenal performer and denounced other musicians who splash fans with water.
The producer, whose real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, made this known while on Nigerian music journalist Motolani Alake’s podcast, recalling a great performance of The Weeknd, a famous Canadian singer, he watched.
Don Jazzy mentions that Afrobeats musicians enjoy sprinkling water on audience members during performances in the video posted to Twitter on August 7.
He does not specifically mention artists signed to his own label. He adds that at a The Weeknd performance he attended, it wasn’t the case.
He then commends Burna Boy as exceptional: ‘Burna Boy is an amazing performer’, and finally says Afrobeats artists need to put extra work into honing their performance skills.
