Legendary Nigerian music producer and Mavin Records boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has shared his thoughts on who holds the crown for the best voice in Nigeria, and his answer has stirred conversations online.

During a recent Q&A session on X (formerly Twitter), the music mogul responded to a fan who praised his voice, calling it “the best and most unique voice in the music industry.”

Don Jazzy humbly accepted part of the compliment but was quick to redirect the spotlight to someone else. He replied, “most unique i agree. best na Wande.”

The statement instantly went viral, racking up nearly one million impressions as of Thursday, November 13, 2025, with fans flooding the comment section to agree, debate, and celebrate the long-standing musical bond between Don Jazzy and Wande Coal, his former signee under the now-defunct Mo’ Hits Records.

For many, Don Jazzy’s acknowledgment reinforces what fans have long believed: that Wande Coal’s velvety vocals and effortless range remain unmatched in the Nigerian music scene.

When Don Jazzy looks back on his journey, it’s easy to see the triumphs: the hit records, the global stars, and the Mavin empire. But few know how close he came to walking away from it all.

In a heartfelt conversation with Rolling Stone, the Nigerian music mogul, whose real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, opened up about one of the darkest moments of his career: the 2012 collapse of Mo’Hits Records, the legendary label he co-founded with D’banj.

“When Mo’Hits ended, I thought that was it. I almost packed up to move abroad,” he confessed. “But friends encouraged me to stay and start again, and Mavin Records was born. Since then, I’ve learned not to let anything break me.”
