Don Jazzy reveals he regrets his 2015 Headies altercation with Olamide.
After 8 years, Nigerian Label boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, also known as Don Jazzy, has expressed regret for his fight with Hip Hop musician Olamide Adedeji at the 2015 Headies Awards.
In an episode of BBNaija’s Doyin Corner, he claimed that the moment it occurred, he immediately felt bad and stepped down from the stage.
Jazzy described the incident as an out-of-character moment for him and that he has apologized to Olamide and the Headies Award organizers for the way he behaved.
According to the music entrepreneur, that is one of the actions he took that mad ehim feel he disappointed many individuals who look up to him as a role model.
“There was the Headies incident, it was out of character and I regretted that instantly as soon as I came down from the stage. I have also apologised to Olamide and the event organisers,” he said.
Recall that in 2015, Don Jazzy and Olamide had an epic verbal fight that is still seen as one of the biggest celebrity beef in Nigerian music history.
It all started after Jazzy’s signee, Reekado Banks was declared the winner of the Next Rated category that year, but Olamide disapproved, contending that his YBNL protégé Lil Kesh was more deserving.
Olamide expressed his displeasure on stage, to which Don Jazzy, who was also present, said that everyone should accept the organizers’ choice.
The confrontation between the two singers swiftly got out of hand, and Olamide even called Don Jazzy names during the scuffle. However, the conflict was later handled backstage, and the performers made up.
Following the event, Don Jazzy apologized to his followers on Twitter for his actions and clarified that he had no desire to offend anyone. Olamide also tweeted that he had nothing against Don Jazzy and that their problems had been resolved.
