Don Jazzy responds to claims that Mavin Records is up for sale.
Nigerian singer and record producer Michael Collins Ajereh, widely known as Don Jazzy, has corrected any misconceptions regarding the sale of Mavin Records.
In an open discussion on the most recent episode of the Zero Conditions Podcast, which aired today, January 12, 2024, the music mogul said that while investors have shown interest in purchasing the company, such rumors are unavoidable.
In the interview, Don Jazzy explained, “We have investors, and they have been here for five years, so they have to go. If you get gold or you get diamonds, people go dey, people wey wan. Or if you be fine girl, people go dey approach you nau. Dem wan toast and as we dey like this, if you get breast, you get yansh.”
According to Don Jazzy’s description, the label gets attention much like a valuable asset or an attractive individual.
Don Jazzy clarified that Mavin Records is not currently exploring a sale to investors or platforms, despite the circulating speculations to the contrary. Investors attempting to purchase the label have made efforts and approaches, but Don Jazzy is still very much in charge.

The current roster of Mavin Records signees includes Ayra Starr, Rema, Ladipoe, Boy Spyce, and Johnny Drille, showcasing the label’s dedication to nurturing emerging talents in the industry. Despite the speculations about a potential sale, Mavin Records remains a powerhouse in the Nigerian music landscape, continuing its legacy of contributing to the country’s music scene.
