    Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for December 2023, making him the first player from Bournemouth to receive this award.

    Solanke earned this honor for the first time in his career by scoring an impressive six goals in the Premier League during December. He is now just two goals behind Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah in the race for this season’s top scorer.

    The 26-year-old showcased his goal-scoring prowess by netting in a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, recording his first career hat-trick in a 3-2 turnaround win against Nottingham Forest, and scoring in 3-0 victories over both Manchester United and Fulham.

    Solanke’s stellar form played a crucial role in Bournemouth’s success, as they won four and drew one of their six December matches, bringing them within three points of the top half of the table.

    This recognition makes Solanke only the fourth Bournemouth player or manager to win a Premier League monthly award. Eddie Howe claimed the Barclays Manager of the Month three times between 2017 and 2018, while Charlie Daniels and Jermain Defoe won the Goal of the Month prize in August and December 2017, respectively.

    Solanke secured the award after topping an eight-man shortlist, with votes from the EA SPORTS website combined with those of a panel of football experts.
