DJ Cuppy becomes the first Nigerian to host youth session at UNGA
Renowned Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Cuppy, has made history as the first Nigerian to host an opening session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Cuppy served as the moderator for the Youth Action Day at the 2024 UNGA, which was themed “The Summit of the Future – Youth Actions Day.”
In addition to her role as moderator, DJ Cuppy, daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, delivered a musical performance following her keynote speech. Her session marked the largest youth gathering in the history of the UN Headquarters.
Sharing her excitement on social media, she wrote, “Hardly home but always REPPIN ✊🏾 Rehearsals help me STAY READY because preparation MEETS opportunity FOR REAL. My dreams are fueled by faith, hard work, and my purpose truly know NO limits. 🕊️🌍✨ #UNGA.”
The event also saw the presence of notable figures, including the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs and the President of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves.

Recall, Cuppy has launched a new scholarship program to support New York University (NYU) African students. This initiative seeks financial assistance to talented African scholars, enabling them to pursue higher education at one of the world’s most prestigious institutions.
This scholarship is part of her continued efforts to uplift and empower African students through her “Cuppy Foundation, reinforcing her commitment to education and philanthropy.
