Diogo Costa discloses feelings towards Man United transfer.
Diogo Costa, the goalkeeper for Porto, has reaffirmed his desire to remain with his present team this summer despite Manchester United interest.
David de Gea is anticipated to sign a new deal to stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future, therefore United wants to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer to offer him more competition.
Although Costa has long been a favourite at United, 90min understands the 23-year-old is just one of a select group of players on the shortlist, which also includes David Raya of Brentford.
After the Taca de Portugal final on Sunday, when questioned about a potential transfer to Old Trafford, Costa made it clear that he is not interested in the rumours.
“That’s the internet,” the goalkeeper said of the rumours.
He added: “I love Porto, it’s the club of my life. I would give my life for it. My life is resolved with Porto. It is a happiness and an honour to play for my favourite club.
“What they say is what they say, there is nothing concrete, I have a contract until 2027 and I hope to continue, let’s see.”
De Gea received criticism from United fans following his performance in the FA Cup final loss to Manchester City, in which he failed to save Ilkay Gundogan’s clumsy winner and struggled with the ball at his feet.
Manager Erik ten Hag, who has publicly stated his desire to buy a new goalkeeper, has attempted to shelter De Gea from criticism but has accepted that ‘there are difficulties with the Spaniard’s style of play.
