Destiny Boy apologizes to Oladips over controversial remarks on alleged death.
Emerging Fuji artist Afeez Adesina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has publicly apologized to his senior colleague in the music industry, Oladipupo Oladimeji, also known as Oladips, following a controversial incident.
This apology comes in the wake of Destiny Boy’s now-deleted video in which he criticized Oladips over what was initially believed to be the latter’s untimely demise.
Earlier reports had falsely claimed that Oladips had passed away at the age of 28, triggering a wave of mourning on social media. Subsequently, Oladips appeared in a video, confirming that he was alive and well.
In the aftermath of this revelation, Destiny Boy faced criticism for his remarks, where he suggested that Oladips would soon face consequences for falsely proclaiming his death. Destiny Boy has now clarified that his initial video was made in jest, describing it as “catching cruise,” slang for playful banter.
The video clip in which Destiny Boy criticized Oladips shows him in a moving car, expressing discontent over what he perceived to be a prank. He mentioned the singer’s age and criticized the perceived insensitivity of the situation.
In his apology, Destiny Boy explained that his intentions were not to cause harm, and he earnestly pleaded for Oladips‘ understanding. This incident underscores the impact of social media misinformation and emphasizes the importance of exercising care and consideration when addressing sensitive subjects in the public domain.
