Dele Momodu speaks on Davido-Sophia custody battle
Media mogul Dele Momodu has addressed the custody battle between his niece, Sophia Momodu, and Davido over their daughter, Imade.
This statement follows Davido’s unexpected filing for joint custody, which surprised Momodu as the issue had not been mentioned in their recent conversations.
Momodu shared that he has previously intervened to ensure smooth co-parenting and resolve financial disagreements over school fees, accommodation, and nannies.
He praised Davido’s father for resolving the school fees and gifting a car to Imade.
The main issue now appears to be accommodation. Davido’s father had offered an apartment to Sophia, but she declined due to privacy concerns as an unmarried woman.
She instead requested that Davido contribute half of the cost for their current residence.
Momodu emphasized the importance of prioritizing Imade’s well-being and avoiding a public dispute.
He revealed that the court has referred the case to alternative dispute resolution and urged both parties to engage constructively.
Sophia reportedly has not restricted Davido’s access to Imade, as long as the nanny is present, per Imade’s request. Momodu also mentioned instances where Sophia facilitated playtime between Imade and Davido’s relatives.
In conclusion, Momodu urged both parties to avoid inflammatory media statements and prioritize creating a structured, safe environment for Imade.
