D’banj Denies Criticizing Seun Kuti

D’banj debunks news that he criticised Seun Kuti
D’banj has denied writing a viral social media post criticising Seun Kuti, the son of late Afro-beat musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
The article claimed that Seun’s substance addiction had caused him to have a low IQ and advised him to concentrate more on music rather than making social commentary.
It also compared Seun to musician Peter Okoye, who was regarded as being ‘detribalized’.
It had read, “Peter Okoye was born in the North and he marrying a Yoruba woman who is 8 years older than him without his family approval.
“Peter Okoye has spent his entire life in the North and Yoruba land. Peter Okoye has not lived in Igbo land in his entire life.
“This shows that Peter Okoye is a detribalised Nigerian. Peter Okoye is supporting who he believes that can fix Nigeria not because of tribe.
“Seun Kuti’s has low IQ due to substance abuse and should focus more on music than ranting on social media without offering solution to Nigeria problem.”
In a series of tweets, D’banj claimed that even if people in the entertainment sector may hold varying political beliefs, they are still one big family.
The singer disputed the authorship of the post and said it was the product of the imagination of the author and those who shared it.

He wrote;
This is to notify the general public that I have not made nor can I make any derogatory or disparaging statement against anybody especially not in our industry, nor have I directed the publication of any such material on my behalf. Never!
For the records, I authored no statement against my brother Seun Kuti, and I am as perplexed as the general public by the publication falsely attributed to me.
In the entertainment industry, we are all one big family.
We may have different political ideologies and express it in our own ways but the irrefutable truth is that elections will come and go and we will and must remain one big family.
The general public are thus advised to disregard the mischief of a publication maliciously pushed to drive traffic to gossip blogs and stoke non-existent conflict between my humble self and well-regarded colleagues in the industry.
