Fans of David Adeleke, better known by his stage as Davido, will now have to wait until 2023 for the Are We African Yet? A.W.A.Y. festival that was originally slated to take place on November 18, 2022.

The concert has now been postponed to Saturday, November 18, 2023, according to a statement made by the singer’s festival management on Instagram.

The company apologised to any disappointed fans and said that tickets purchased this year will be honoured.

The festival has been postponed due to the death of Davido’s son Ifeanyi, according to the management, who also stated that the musician needs time with his family.

Davido had for weeks, been promoting the festival-themed “A.W.A.Y. (Are We African Yet?)” with the latest post being in October.

The festival was originally scheduled to hold on the 18th of November 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

The decision to postpone the show which was described as a difficult but necessary one was taken so that Davido can spend time with his family to grieve his son.

In a statement released by his management, fans who bought tickets can still use it to attend the show on the new date in 2023.

The statement reads; “We have made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone A.W.A.Y Festival until Saturday, November 18, 2023. To all ticket buyers, your tickets will be honored for the 2023 date.

We understand that you must be disappointed but we promise to come back with a bigger and better show. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to seeing you all in the near future.”

Mp3bullet.ng reported earlier that the DMW boss, who has been in mourning over the past few days, took to his Instagram page and deleted posters promoting his upcoming music festival.

He earlier said the festival was aimed at promoting and fostering cultural exportation and collaboration between Africa and the rest of the world,

However, about a week after the tragic demise of his 3-year-old son, the singer deleted the posters that were previously pinned to his page.
