Afrobeats megastar Davido continues to solidify his status as one of Nigeria’s biggest music exports, as his forthcoming album, 5ive, has already claimed the top spot on Apple Music Nigeria’s Top Albums chart.

This remarkable feat comes even before the project’s official release, making Davido the second artist, alongside Mayorkun, to achieve a No. 1 ranking with an unreleased album.

Scheduled to drop on April 18, 2025, 5ive marks Davido’s fifth studio album, following the massive success of Timeless in 2023. The project is expected to be a fusion of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Dancehall, with an impressive lineup of guest appearances from YG Marley, Odumodublvck, and Chike.
The anticipation for the album has been fueled by the release of three singles, each offering a glimpse into Davido’s evolving sound. Awuke, featuring YG Marley, introduced a reggae-influenced vibe, showcasing a unique collaboration between Davido and Bob Marley’s grandson.
Funds, which dropped on December 6, 2024, features Odumodublvck and Chike, blending Afrobeats and Amapiano while sampling Brenda Fassie’s classic hit Vul’Indlela. Most recently, Davido unveiled Be There Still, further heightening excitement among fans.
The fact that 5ive has already climbed to No. 1 on Apple Music’s Nigeria Top Albums chart underscores the overwhelming anticipation surrounding its release. Strong pre-orders, high streaming engagement, and fan enthusiasm suggest the project is set to break records once it officially drops.
With just over a month to go before its release, 5ive is shaping up to be one of the biggest albums of 2025, further cementing Davido’s legacy as a dominant force in the global music scene.
