    Davido: Why recording an album in 14 days will not affect its potentials

    Davido took the music scene by surprise when he announced that he would be releasing a new album in July called A Better Time.

    Ever since this surprising announcement, Davido has not shied away from giving us hints on the album progression and what to expect.

    The first news was his announcement that one of the songs in the new album will be featuring Nicki Minaj. This announcement sent Twitter in a frenzy and even got fans of both Davido and Wizkid clashing.

    Peruzzi later revealed that Nicki Minaj sent in her verse two days after she was sent the beat.

    Davido revealed that he is also featuring Tiwa Savage on another song, which I have to say is long overdue.

    Davido also later announced he was also featuring Mugeez of the Ghanian group, R2bees in one of the songs, and Mayorkun in two different songs.

    Davido shocked fans earlier last week when he revealed that the whole album was recorded in fourteen days and that news resulted in people asking if the new album was going to be better than its predecessor, “A Good Time” and calling the new album a rushed work.

    Doubting Thomases are also wondering if Davido‘s new collaboration with Nicki Minaj, Tiwa Savage, and the rest would exceed the result songs like “Blow my mind” featuring Chris Brown, and “Risky” featuring Popcaan brought to “A Good Time” album.

    Though one would agree that producing an album should take time so as to serve the best music one has to offer, Davido’s new album could exceed “A Good Time”.

    It is no longer uncommon for artists to spend less time in producing a song much less an album. Afterall the length of time in producing an album doesn’t equal quality.

    Davido is like fine wine, that gets sweeter as it ages. The singer who recently celebrated nine-year of being in the music industry has made mistakes but has learned to grow from them. His recent music is proof of that growth.

    Davido may not have the best voice but one has to admit that he brings life to whatever song he is featured in. The singer who fought hard to have the fame he has accomplished that not by resting on his father’s money alone but by carving a niche of his own.

    Davido can be considered one of Nigeria’s top five A-list artists and with the range of good music he has served to fans over the years, we can only hope “A Better Time” could strengthen his reign in the music industry
