The Supreme Court has set a date to rule on the appeal made by the former governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola, over the governorship election of 2022.
On Monday, a five-member Supreme Court panel heard arguments from lawyers for both sides before announcing the time and date for the decision.
In his petition to the Supreme Court, Oyetola is asking for the Court of Appeal’s March 25 ruling in Abuja, which upheld Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election on July 16, 2022, to be overturned.
The Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s earlier decision, which favoured Oyetola and dismissed Adeleke, was overturned by the Appeal Court in its ruling.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Adeleke was initially proclaimed the election’s victor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
