The NAACP celebrated the achievements of Afrobeats with two of its top artists clinching wins at the 55th NAACP Image Awards.

During the virtual ceremony’s first night on March 11th, 2024, Tems secured the prestigious award for Outstanding International Song with her chart-topping track “Me & U.”

This accolade further solidifies Tems‘ remarkable journey of success. Her song, lauded for its velvety vocals and captivating melody, swiftly gained global recognition upon its release, highlighting the ever-growing influence of Afrobeats on the international stage.

Tems wasn’t the sole Nigerian artist to shine at the awards ceremony. Fellow musicians Davido and Lojay also received recognition for their collaboration on Chris Brown’s “Sensational,” earning the Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary) award.

The NAACP Image Awards commend exceptional achievements and representation of people of color across various domains, including film, television, music, and literature. Tems‘ win marks a pivotal moment, underscoring the widespread impact of Afrobeats and the undeniable artistry of Nigerian musicians on the global stage.
