Davido reveals how he made his new album ‘5ive,’ with Rolling Stone Africa
In his latest interview with Rolling Stone Africa, Afrobeats superstar Davido opened up about the creative journey behind his highly anticipated fifth studio album, 5ive.
The project came to life earlier this year in the vibrant and relaxed atmosphere of his Malibu home.
For nearly three weeks, Davido turned his residence into a creative hub, hosting producers and engineers who fully immersed themselves in the music-making process.
“We made amazing music, we had parties—some days, we didn’t even record,” he revealed. The energy was magnetic, even drawing in international stars like Chris Brown, adding to the album’s dynamic spirit.

Davido emphasized that the spontaneous, laid-back vibe played a crucial role in shaping the project. “The energy was so pure that we didn’t even realize we were making incredible music,” he shared.
