“‘Feels Like He’s Back’ – Davido on Striking Similarity Between Ifeanyi and His Twin Son”
Davido has opened up emotionally about the powerful and uncanny resemblance between his late son Ifeanyi and his newborn twin son, calling it “scary” and suggesting it feels almost as if Ifeanyi has returned.
In a heartfelt conversation with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, the singer reflected on the traumatic period following Ifeanyi’s tragic death by drowning in November 2022, a loss he described as one of the most painful times of his life. He and his wife Chioma retreated from public life and later quietly married.
Davido shared:
“That type of loss made you just be like, ‘I’m out’. I’m just going to chill, take care of my wife and take care of the family and get my head right.”
Nearly a year later, in October 2023, the couple was blessed with twins, an event Davido believes is a testament to God’s mercy and grace. Speaking about his son’s resemblance to Ifeanyi, he said,
“And the boy looks just like my son that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him. We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back.’”
He added,
“To come back from that and be blessed with twins out the gate… it just shows God is real.”
Davido emphasized how the tragedy and subsequent blessing reshaped him—making him more compassionate, humble, and determined to spread positivity, not just in his music, but in life.
