My wedding day was like a holiday in Nigeria – Davido

Afrobeats superstar Davido has shared his thoughts on his lavish wedding to Chioma Adeleke, describing it as an unforgettable global celebration that felt like a holiday in Nigeria.
Speaking on the Bootleg Kev Podcast, Davido recounted the grandeur of his wedding, emphasizing how friends, family, and well-wishers from different parts of the world gathered to celebrate their union.
“This is a bound union now; we’ve had a whole wedding and we’ve invited all these people from across the world to celebrate us.”
The singer likened the extravagant festivities to Zamunda, the fictional African kingdom from Coming to America.
“The wedding was in Nigeria; it was on some crazy Zamunda shit, mad crazy. It was like a holiday in Nigeria and it was one of the best days of my life. Everybody flew in from all over the world to celebrate us.”
Held on June 25, 2024, in Lagos, the event was nothing short of a spectacle. It was graced by top celebrities, politicians, and dignitaries. The couple’s pre-wedding photos, tagged with #CHIVIDO2024, had already generated massive excitement on social media before the ceremony.
The wedding featured electrifying performances from renowned artists such as Chike, Fireboy DML, Olamide, Mayorkun, Zlatan, Nasboi, and legendary juju musician King Sunny Ade.
Adding to the excitement, Davido and Chioma were gifted a brand-new white car by a car company as a surprise wedding present.
Despite the joy surrounding the occasion, Davido also spoke on the importance of safeguarding their marriage, acknowledging the challenges that come with fame.
“I feel like a lot of popular people are very vulnerable, knowing that we have to be careful.”
The wedding not only marked a milestone in Davido’s personal life but also set a new standard for celebrity celebrations in Nigeria.
