I’m living proof of a successful person after school – Davido
At the 2024 LAS Annual Summit, Davido shared insights from his journey to success after graduating from Babcock University, offering a personal take on the theme “Life after school.”
Speaking to the attendees, Davido explained how his path diverged from traditional expectations as he pursued a career in music rather than joining his family’s business ventures.
Reflecting on his university years, Davido mentioned that his family was supportive, allowing him the freedom to carve out his unique path. “I relate a lot to this topic because I’m living proof of the successful person after school,” he said.
He described how he paused his studies at one point to focus on his music, ultimately completing a five-year program.

Davido acknowledged the varying timelines people experience on the road to success. “I come from a family where you go to school, and afterward, you go directly to work… I was the one who went another route from my siblings,” he said, explaining that he followed his passion for music while his siblings entered the workforce.
He emphasized that success doesn’t come on a set timeline: “For some, success came quickly, while others are climbing the ladder in their careers.” Davido’s story underscores the importance of pursuing one’s dreams, even when the path is unconventional, and remaining patient and determined along the journey.
