DMW Boss said his hit song with Omah Lay almost didn’t make the 5ive album

During a recent appearance on American news outlet ABC, Afrobeats megastar Davido revealed that his chart-topping collaboration with Omah Lay, With You, almost didn’t make it onto his fifth studio album, 5Ive.
“It almost didn’t make the album… Every time I remember I almost took it off the album, my heart starts beating,” Davido admitted.
Placed as the closing track, number 17—its position reflected his initial doubts. Yet, in hindsight, keeping it was a masterstroke. The song went on to become not only the standout hit from 5Ive but also one of the defining Afrobeats anthems of 2025.
“Shout out to Omah Lay. I am glad we were able to collaborate on a true African classic,” the award-winning singer added.

The track’s success has been amplified on Davido’s ongoing 5 Alive world tour, where it consistently draws thunderous reactions from fans. One of the most memorable moments came when Omah Lay joined him live on stage at his sold-out show at Scotia Bank Arena in Canada.
Davido is currently celebrating selling out 12 venues across North America on the tour. After his performance at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland on August 5th, the artist marked the milestone with his team, cutting a celebratory cake backstage.
The singer briefly paused his tour for a grand Miami wedding to his longtime partner, Chioma Rowland. The lavish celebration drew an elite guest list, including Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Abia State Governor, HE Alex Otti.
