Nigerian music superstar Davido has shared a new perspective on his career, revealing that he is no longer chasing Grammy wins or seeking validation from the Western music scene.

Speaking during an appearance on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi, the award-winning artist reflected on how far he has come—and why his priorities are beginning to shift.
Davido pointed out that he has already ticked off many major milestones, from performing on some of the world’s biggest stages to selling out arenas across continents, alongside earning multiple Grammy nominations in recent years.
“This part of my career, I have performed everywhere, sold out every arena, I have been to three Grammys in the last three years,” he said.
With those achievements behind him, the singer says his focus is now on staying true to his roots and creating music that feels authentically African, rather than trying to fit into Western trends.
“The music that is coming next is very Davido, it is very African. We have done it, so I am not really looking to do Western sounds,” he added.
He also spoke about the strong connection he enjoys with fans in South Africa, noting that his music has gained wide acceptance there over the years. Through collaborations with South African artists and multiple certifications within the country’s music industry, Davido has continued to strengthen his presence across the continent.
As he steps into this new phase, it’s clear the Afrobeats star is choosing authenticity over approval—leaning fully into the sound and identity that first made him a global force.
