Why I used to bring foreign artists like Rick Ross, Dababy, YG Marley, Nasty C and others to Nigeria – Davido spills
Afrobeats sensation Davido has shed light on his consistent efforts to bring foreign artists to Nigeria for music collaborations, video shoots, and cultural exchange.
The “Unavailable” hitmaker, who has been a key figure in the Nigerian music industry for over a decade, explained his reasons during a recent interview.
Davido stated, “I always invite foreign artistes to Nigeria so that they can see the actual situation of things in Lagos and Nigeria compared to the bad narration being spread around about the country and the continent at large.”
The singer, known for his vibrant personality and groundbreaking achievements, revealed that these visits often change the perceptions of the visiting artists.
He noted that his luxurious mansions, exotic cars, and accolades—all located in Nigeria—leave the visitors in awe. “Whenever these artistes come, they feel like they are in heaven as they all could not believe their eyes compared to the bad narrations that have been spread over the years,” Davido remarked.

Over the years, Davido has hosted several international stars, creating memorable experiences both for them and his Nigerian fans.
The list includes prominent names like U.S. rapper Rick Ross, South African rapper Nasty C, Jamaican artist YG Marley, and American rapper DaBaby.
This year, he had a lively interaction with American streamer Kai Cenat in Lagos, showcasing Nigerian hospitality and culture.
In 2018, Nasty C performed his hit song “Coolest Kid in Africa” to a thrilled Nigerian audience, with fans enthusiastically singing and dancing along. Similarly, DaBaby flew into Lagos from Germany for a music video shoot with Davido.
The Rick Ross and Davido Live in Lagos Concert, which was sponsored by Immensum Stellar Live (I.S.L), also remains a significant moment in Davido’s journey of bridging global and Nigerian music scenes.
Most recently, Davido brought Jamaican star YG Marley to Nigeria for the video shoot of their hit single “Awuke,” released just weeks ago. The superstar emphasized that such collaborations showcase the vibrancy of Nigeria’s music and lifestyle, countering negative narratives about the country.
Through these efforts, Davido continues to cement his legacy as not only a musical icon but also a cultural ambassador, shining a light on the richness and beauty of Nigeria.
