The only three tribes in Nigeria are revealed by Davido.
Afrobeat singer Davido recently made an erroneous statement, claiming that Nigeria has only three tribes: Yoruba, Igbo, and Benin.
During a conversation with popular American content creator Kai Cenat, who is in Nigeria for a documentary, Davido made the statement while hosting him in Lagos.
He said, “We have three tribes in Nigeria. There’s Yoruba. My father is Yoruba. And in Nigeria, wherever your father is from, that’s where you are really from. So my father is Yoruba. My wife is from Igbo. And my mother is from Benin. I’m three tribes in one.”
However, Davido’s assertion contradicts the reality of Nigeria’s diverse ethnic composition. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, there are 371 tribes in Nigeria, with the largest ethnic groups being Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba.
Davido’s comment has sparked discussions online, with many pointing out the inaccuracy of his statement and emphasizing the rich cultural diversity of Nigeria beyond the three tribes he mentioned.
Davido and American streamer and YouTuber Kai Cenat have been causing a stir in Lagos, immersing themselves in the city’s vibrant culture.
Renowned for his captivating travel experiences across Nigeria, Kai Cenat found himself in the spotlight once again as he embarked on a tour with Davido.
In a video circulating online since Monday, March 11, 2024, the duo was captured sharing a car ride, engaging in lively conversation. Davido, known for his charismatic personality, took the opportunity to shower praise on his wife, Chioma, as the topic of culinary expertise arose. Regretting that Kai Cenat had not yet met Chioma, Davido couldn’t help but boast about her exceptional cooking skills, dubbing her the “best chef ever.”
Kai Cenat, visibly impressed by Davido’s commendation, echoed the sentiment with genuine enthusiasm, offering a shout-out to Chioma. The admiration for Chioma’s culinary talents further solidified Davido’s declaration of her as a culinary maestro capable of crafting delectable dishes.
