I’m not going to disturb myself for an American collaboration-Davido
Nigerian superstar Davido shared insights into his stance on collaborating with American artists, revealing that, apart from Chris Brown, he’s not keen on pursuing further collaborations.
He expressed a shift in focus towards prioritizing collaborations with artists known for producing high-quality music.
Currently embarking on a media tour in anticipation of his Timeless concert at Madison Square Garden, New York, Davido made these remarks during an interview with Sway. He emphasized his decision not to actively seek collaborations with American artists.
Performing at Madison Square Garden has long been a dream for Davido, and this aspiration is on the verge of realization as the King of Afrobeat prepares to grace the stage on April 17, 2024.
Leading up to the event, he’s been captivating audiences worldwide with performances of his biggest hits from the Timeless album, with New York being the latest addition to his tour itinerary.
The King of Afrobeat told BET and Billboard, “I always said I want to be at the Garden. I think that’s every artist’s dream. The greats have performed there, like Michael Jackson”.
During his media tour to promote his upcoming show, Davido dropped by the Sway Universe radio show. There, he delved into his debut performance at Madison Square Garden and the remarkable evolution of Afrobeats.
Davido underscored a notable shift in the music landscape, noting that while previously featuring an American artist on an Afrobeats track was a significant event, there’s now a pervasive enthusiasm among artists from diverse backgrounds to collaborate within the genre.
He said, “Apart from Chris Brown, I’m not going to disturb myself for an American collaboration. Rihanna said Unavailable is her best song, so I’m waiting to work with her”.
He also said that he has a potential Victoria Monet collaboration coming up.
