Davido explains what makes up the perfect collaboration

In a fresh sit-down with 96.1 The Beat ATL FM, Davido opened up about the creative process behind his fifth studio album, Five, and the intentional way he chooses his collaborators.
The Nigerian superstar described his link-up with American R&B sensation Victoria Monét as a natural connection driven by mutual respect and a shared eagerness to work together.
“I’m not a fan of collaborations just because labels think it’ll be a hit,” Davido explained. “I prefer working with friends and artists who genuinely want to create something together.”
Five brings together an eclectic mix of international talent. Davido tapped Jamaican dancehall heavyweights Shenseea and 450, French chart-toppers Dadju and TayC, Nigerian Afrobeats star Omah Lay, and his longtime friend and frequent collaborator Chris Brown.
His bond with Chris Brown continues to blossom, with the pair previously teasing a collaborative project and tour—an extension of Davido’s belief in building with those who share his creative vision.
Davido also dished on his upcoming 5ive Alive tour, revealing a 13-date global run that includes a major milestone: a headlining show at the massive 60,000-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. He’ll share the stage with hip-hop legend 50 Cent and Grammy powerhouse Mary J. Blige in what promises to be a historic concert.
The tour will make two stops in Canada—at the 19,000-seat Scotiabank Arena and the 10,000-capacity Place Bell.
Davido will bring the tour full circle with a final show at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, a meaningful location for the artist who spent his formative years in the city he still considers home.
