Nigerian singer, Davido opened up after he met one of his album collaborators, Jamaican dancehall artist, Dexta Daps.
The singer in an interview with Kiss Fm London, spoke on how he met Dexta Daps and got him to appear on his “Timeless” album.
According to Davido, he met Dexta through Jamaican Dancehall artist, Popcaan while they were booked for the same show in Bahamas.
He stated that they had been friends for like six months before the issue of collaborating came up and that Dexta checks up on him regularly which helped build their friendship.
“Me and Dexta we were friends like six months before we made music. First time I met him, Obviously through Popcaan I think but they booked us for the same show, I think in Bahamas or something. And then we met like backstage obviously and from there we just started being friends. And you know was in New York one time, he was in New York. we hung out for a couple of days, came to Miami with me. You know what I am saying. He prays for me, he calls me, he checks on me. You know what I am saying, like a real friend. Obviously we got to, you know, doing the music later on. When I’m collaborating, I like collaborating with things like this because you know when that synergy is there. Its natural, so you want to promote the song. Anytime he has a show, I’m around. I’ll pop up”
