‘The government has failed but entertainment is helping out’, Davido says
Award-winning artist David Adedeji Adeleke, known professionally as Davido has expressed his thoughts on how entertainment was enabling Nigerians and Africans to escape harsh reality.
Recently, Davido released his much-awaited fourth album, “Timeless,” to rave reviews both locally and internationally. Davido is thrilled that music is giving Nigerians a route out of suffering, and the album is already on track to be his most accessible work to date.
When questioned about the international rise of Afrobeats in an interview with Kiss FM, Davido replied that he was glad to see Nigerian musicians thriving overseas.
Davido expressed his satisfaction at Rema breaking the African record for the highest charting song on the Billboard Hot 100, recalling the first time he met Rema when he was newly signed by D’Prince.
According to Davido, it’s the government’s role to create ways through which the public may have a better and easier existence nevertheless, the government has failed in its task and entertainment is giving the much-needed outlet.

On March 31, 2023, Davido released his new album, “Timeless,” which has since broken all five of Nigeria’s top streaming platforms’ previous first-week records.
The album has the largest number of first-week streams in Audiomack history.
‘Timeless‘ sets a new record for the most first-day and first-week streams of any album on Spotify Nigeria, Apple Music Africa, Boomplay, and YouTube Nigeria.
Davido is expected to perform songs from the album on April 23, 2023, in his highly awaited event in TBS Lagos.
