Nigerian music icon Davido has disclosed that he nearly walked away from the industry before the release of his chart-topping single With You featuring Omah Lay.
The revelation came during a recent interview that quickly spread across social media, sparking conversations among fans and industry watchers.

Davido admitted that after spending more than a decade at the top, he was uncertain about the future of his career and had begun considering stepping away from music altogether.
That uncertainty, however, ended with the arrival of With You. Featured on his 5ive album, the track not only became the standout record on the project but also revived his passion for making music.
“We thank God. Thirteen or fourteen years after, for me to have this kind of song, it’s rare. Some people get this kind of record at the beginning of their career, some in the middle. I was actually thinking of bowing out, and then God blessed me with this kind of song. It definitely gave me more life,” Davido revealed.

The collaboration with Omah Lay has since transformed into one of the defining Afrobeats anthems of 2025. With You currently holds the title of the most-streamed Nigerian song on Spotify this year, while also landing a nomination for Song of the Year at the 2025 AFRIMA Awards.
It has dominated the Official Nigeria Top 100 chart and secured a top-five placement on the Billboard US Afrobeats chart.
For Davido, whose journey spans over 14 years with countless international hits, the impact of With You goes beyond commercial success. It stands as proof of resilience, divine timing, and the way music can breathe new life into an artist’s journey.
